Catchment liaison subcommittees

There are eight management zones in the region and these provide the basis under which River and Catchment Services programmes are undertaken. There are catchment liaison subcommittees in place for all zones. Appointments to the subcommittees are made on a three year cycle, based on the council’s triennial process.

These subcommittees are comprised of representatives from Waikato Regional Council's constituent councillors, key agencies with an interest in the zone, community representatives and property owners. Subcommittee members have an interest in river and catchment management and outcomes, ensuring provision of effective programmes and services for communities in their zone. The representatives serve in an advisory capacity to council in relation to river and catchment programmes within the particular zone.

The subcommittees meet three to four times in a year. Meetings involve consideration of and recommendations related to river and catchment strategies and programmes in the zone. Recommendations received from the subcommittees are reported back through council’s Catchment Services standing committee.

Call for nominations - Coromandel catchment liaison subcommittee

If you have an interest in managing land and water issues in the Coromandel area then we are keen to hear from you.

Waikato Regional Council is seeking nominations from the public for community representatives for a vacancy on our Coromandel catchment liaison subcommittee. The subcommittee – which acts in an advisory capacity - is our way of getting detailed community input into the way we run our river and catchment, and pest management programmes.
