Manager Statutory Processes (M Poole) presented the report and noted that the applicant (Rotokawa Joint Venture Limited) had formally requested that the applications be heard by independent Commissioners.

THAT:
- a Waikato Regional Council Hearing Committee be established and that pursuant to section 34A of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Commissioner/s appointed be delegated authority to hear and decide the following application for resource consent, together with all the ancillary powers of the Act:
i) Rotokawa Joint Venture Limited (120489-120498, 120500-120505 and 120507) proposed Ngatamariki Geothermal Power Station at Tahorakuri with the Hearing Committee to comprise Dr JA Jones and DL Roke
2 In terms of Section 102(3) of the Resource Management Act 1991, while a joint hearing is to be held for the following applications:
- Rotokawa Joint Venture Limited (120489-120498, 120500-120505 and 120507) proposed Ngatamariki Geothermal Power Station at Tahorakuri,
it is not considered appropriate that a joint decision be made due to the different environmental functions and issues involved for which the consent authorities have separate responsibilities. |
