Coromandel Peninsula blueprint
The Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint is a joint initiative between four agencies:
- Thames-Coromandel District Council
- Environment Waikato
- Department of Conservation
- Hauraki Whaanui.
These four groups collaborate under the Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint to achieve integrated planning on the Coromandel Peninsula. Environment Waikato contributes to the combined planning approach by aligning our values and responsibilities with those from the other three agencies, to create a common direction for the Coromandel Peninsula for the next 20 to 50 years.
The process includes three phases: research, issues and options identification, and adoption. The first two phases are now complete and the project has reached its adoption phase. The draft Preferred Future, or 'district-wide Coromandel Peninsula Blueprint', has now obtained Political Steering Group and Council approval to be presented to the communities for final feedback. Following the feedback process, the Preferred Future will be adopted.
