Regional Land Transport Programme review
The Regional Land Transport Programme is a statutory document prepared under the Land Transport Management Act 2003. The primary purpose of this document is to collate and prioritise land transport activities in the Waikato region for funding from the national land transport fund.
The operative Regional Land Transport Programme has been in effect since 1 July 2009 and continues through until 30 June 2012. In order to ensure a seamless transition from the period covered by the current RLTP, development has begun on preparing the Regional Land Transport Programme 2012 – 2015.
Work on the new programme is being led by the Regional Transport Committee, who prepare the programme on behalf of the regional council. The Regional Transport Committee are supported in this endeavour with technical expertise provided by the Regional Advisory Group ,which consists of roading managers and transport professionals from the Waikato region representing each of the districts and the NZ Transport Agency.
The Regional Land Transport Programme 2012 – 2015 will be complete by 30 April 2012 in time to prepare the National Land Transport Programme which will come into effect on 1 July 2012.
